how do i successfully research stocks for myself?

I wish to start testing the stock market waters because I know being a young investor can be beneficial. At this point, I'm only slightly familiar with 'volume', the three types of stocks (penny, growth, blue chip), and the two general methods of making money (dividends and stock prices rising). But everything else -- especially detailed researching is extremely foreign to me. I'm tempted to just take internet advice, but I know that is not the most secure way to decide where to place my money. Yet besides reading opinion articles, I don't know which pieces of information about the company to search for, and furthermore, I have no idea about how to put these pieces of information together to form a comprehensive opinion about a stock. Any tips about researching stocks -- especially how company history etc-- plays into the mix are welcome. Thank you all in advance!

He will then explain to you that by buying an "Apple-tree" you are actually buying endangered rainforests in the tropical belt around the world, which by itself is not enough to save the world but is an important contribution. Then he will give you a new tip with every purchase of an "Apple-tree", of what you can do yourself to give the earth the upper hand in the battle against oblivion. There are several enterprises today that are planting or protecting the rainforest, so Apple would mainly be the front-end marketing arm. I predict that with Apple's impact on society, and how the conscientious consumers want to participate; this would be a way of getting control over the situation. In the near future people would meet at work, in school, in the neighbourhood and at home to compare the number of trees they have "planted". This is good brand-building. How to select stocks?

I would like to start investing in the stock market. I am talking about active trading (but not day trading!). Something like holding stocks for multiple days or weeks (I think it's called position trading). Since there are so many stocks out there, I don't know where to start. I plan to stay away from penny stocks for sure. I am looking for a moderate return, nothing crazy. I don't plan to blindly follow tips however. I remember a tip that was given to me by a "so called financial" advisor back in 1999, where he suggested that I invest more of my 401K in Internet stocks. At that time, I resisted to do so!. Hi. I must first clarify that I am in fact sixteen, and I've been looking on the internet for a while now trying to find ways to make money. I've come across tons of different things, but there's one that caught my interest; and that's affiliate marketing. What does a Pre-Sales Consultant do?

I have recently gained my MSc e-commerce, and am struggling to decide what career path I should take. I took the business stream of the MSc e-commerce in part 2 of the course. Areas covered included e-commerce law and web-based marketing, but also included web system design and implementation, internet security and internetworking. At first I persued Web Development jobs, but have now realised that this is not my forte. I do love technology, and embrace all new technologies, but I feel I don't have the aptitude for web development. A friend of mine suggested Pre-Sales Consultancy as a career. Digital camera advice?

I'm looking for a digitial camera and know next to nothing about photography. I basically want to take photos of friends and family and would like to have a zoom if that's possible in my price range of about $200. I'm assuming that the major brands Cannon, Minolta, Pentax are safe, but I see Sony and HP also have reasonably priced models on the market. I need tips on what kinds of things I should be looking for so I don't get taken in by a salesman who is just looking for commission or who doesn't know much more than I do.
