Well, am still looking too.
I'm thinking of corporate blogging. Blogs have been increasingly pertinent in providing credible inputs to the consumer, in a more friendly environment. A corporate blog is somewhat similar to personal blog, but top executives take turn to cover various topics related to their business and industry. You should not directly focus on your product information, but rather more towards the industry, the market, consumer insights - anything that can help the public to gain more understanding towards your product and industry. These blogs should be written in a relatively personalized approach, formality should be reduced to as minimal as possible. It will provide a more friendly approach, establishing yourself as someone they are comfortable with, like friends. It should provide you with better credibility and visibility in the consumer perspective - therefore facilitating your sales communication initiatives. It is long-term strategy, may take a while, but I say it's worth a shot! Details on http://www.answers.com/topic/corporate-blog
Well, what I could say is that a strategy that works for one might not work for others. I am using the lastest web2.0 marketing strategy such as video posting, blogging and social networking. Another one which is very effective is writing article and posting it to article syndication sites.
I think there are a lot of viable options, but not everything works for every type of business, product or service. Being in the SEO industry I can say pretty definitively that SEO is generally a safe bet, though for new sites you might want to wait on that. The other option is to implement a paid search campaign through Google and/or Yahoo. These are very effective at driving traffic, plus with solid testing and tracking you are able to really control costs, profits, etc.
It depends highly on what you are trying to market. The best answer is to hire a professional. We have dedicated our life to marketing and how it works. Why do you not grow your own food, make your own clothes, build your own car, or perform your own surgery? Because it is easier and cheaper in the long run to trust a professional to do it for you. Same thing with marketing. You'll put out a little cash now and reap big rewards later.
