I applied on the 25th of last month and I've been calling them everyday since last week... apparently, they've run out of ports in my area and need to install something called a cabinet. It was stupid of them not to have realized that in advance. I work at home need internet connection desperately. The only reason I'm still with etisalat is coz there is no one else providing internet service in my area. Du doesn't cover the area yet. I'm starting to loathe etisalat for monopolizing the market. I've requested my application to be stamped urgent, filed a complaint... what can I really do to get these guys off their butts and actually do something?! I call them everyday, sometimes left on hold for over an hour... I already have a complain filed... no news of a followup either!

Government sponsored cartels and monopolies are pretty much the norm here. If you don't have "wasta" (connections) things take as long as they take and there's not much you can do about it. You could try talking to the manager of the department you are dealing with. Sometimes that works wonders. You will also need some patients - things just take time in this country.

Call 101 on any Etisalat landline or cellphone and complain about it. That's what the Etisalat directory is used for.
