internet marketing plans Question And Answer
What are the best product(s) for on-line marketing?
I welcome any suggestion of where I can find statistics for products to sell on internet. I'm trying to begin an on-line business and it is at its infancy. I have some ideas, a basic plan and some $ saved up for marketing. I welcome any suggestions.

Internet Retailer magazine has a Top 500 Guide of the top ecommerce firms on the Web today and they have statistics on the top products sold. In 2005 (their 2006 report will be released sometime in June), following are the top products sold on the Web http://www.internetretailer.com/top500/index.asp
Mass merchant/department store = $18.267 billion in sales
Computers/electronics = $17.667 B
Office supplies = $10.323 B
Apparel/accessories = $7.061 B
Books/CDs/DVDs = $2.500 B
Housewares/home furnishings = $2.416 B
Specialty/non apparel = $2.325 B
Food/drug = $1.872 B
Health/beauty = $1.748 B
Flowers/gifts = $1.203 B
Sporting goods = $1.336 B
Hardware/home improvement = $0.851B
Toys/hobbies = $0.740 B
Jewelry = $0.615 B
The above numbers can hopefully give you some idea of the best products to sell on the Web. However, you will be running a small business and you're coming in late in the game, so I suggest you find some niche market in the above categories that are currently underserved or ignored by the big boys such as Amazon.com or Sears.com
You can sell anything as long as you find one in a profitable niche. I highly recommend Sitesell, they've got tons of tools & information to help you find the right niche for you and build a site that will bring in tons of traffic (=sales).
Good luck!
