internet marketing plans Question And Answer

Is A Marketing Degree Worthless?

I was orginally planning to get a degree in Meteorology but I needed alot of Calculus classes and that turned me off. With marketing it looks like I only need one calculus or statistics class and im good. So I have heard good things and bad things about marketing. I wanted to know if a degree in marketing is good or not? I already do internet marketing but im sure this is different. It looks like a degree thats fairly easy, and I have heard people say you can make alot of money. I just want to know if I could get a job or not with a marketing degree. If anyone has a degree and could provide some help I would be thankful. I thinking of going to California State University. Can anyone help me here? Thanks

if you want to go into sales then a marketing degree is for you. yes you CAN make alot of money in these jobs, but alot of them are 100% commission and have high turnover.
You will get mixed feelings for the value of marketing degrees. Typically, standard "marketing" jobs pay about average unless you are directly in sales. With sales, the sky is the limit with income. If you are comparing this degree to Meteorology, you will be much better off with a marketing degree.
The other answers are pretty accurate; I would add that you might want to go on to get you MBA to set yourself apart. Also, while getting the Marketing degree, do intern work.
I wish I had completed my marketing degree when I was younger. Now I have to take a $20k pay cut because the high-paying companies in my field won't talk to me without a BBA, despite 10+ years experience, etc. I say go for it, and remember me when you're making $75k+
