I've got $20K burning a hole in my pocket, and I wanted to update my HOME with available and compatible consumer electronic components ...network TV, stereo, all media (MP3, Pictures, CDs & DVD), Web, etc. It;s a bit overwhelming to know where to start....too many products, features and compatability issues. I need a planning template. I'm not looking for bleeding edge....just state for the art, market tested, reasonalble priced-gear, easy to use/install and reliable. thanks

Comcast Internet VS Verizon Fios?

I live in portland Oregon if that makes a difference. The middle plans of both of them. 45-55 dollars a month. WIth comcast The speed changes a lot. As in sometimes its pretty fast and others its SO SLOW you can't even use it.I called them and said thats because in large markets there servers get overloaded. I pay 50 dollars as well as other people do so they should upgrade so that doesn't happen. With verizon does the same thing happen?

Advertising space: how much to charge? (NOT INTERNET)?

Hi guys, this one if for all marketing / advertising professionals: Government in my country plans to issue special cards for all drivers that will store all personal data and be used to pay fines / utilities etc. The size of a typical credit card, chip, stripe and all that.. They want to sell 4 small spaces on the card where a logo can be placed. As this is not a typical advertising medium, i do not know how to calculate reasonable price for that space. My idea was to draw a comparison to the outdoor media, i.e. what a client could get if he went for the cards instead of billboards. I do not have much time nor money to do an extensive research, and there are some other conditions for an advertiser: 1. Company can take no less than 100,000 and no more than 500,00 cards; 2. Total number of cards will be 3,000,000; 3. Space is rented out for the whole period only, which is 36 months. Many thanks guys!

What would happen if the entire internet just stopped working worldwide & there was no E.T.A for restoral?

I think we're far dependant on the internet...and the world, at this point, does not seem to have a backup plan that I know of. I think the stocks market would go ballistic, business would suffer. Some businesses would try to go back to the phone, fax, and snail mail. Whats worse is with gas prices being what they are, the internet saves us from much driving...so we could not drive as much as we did before the internet was a major factor. The internet is our air, nowadays, and without it..we'd suffer. why'd that guy get so technical..? use your imagination

Need of opinion :I finished high school this year and began making plans for business.Do you think it's early?

I am 18 years old and I finished high school this year and began making some plans to integrate in the business . I have a capital of money and I know what to start with . I will start with investing in an internet cafe and I will bring a very good clothing company in my country to sell them to the market . The thing is that next year ( october 2007 ) I am going to college to study business economics and/or finance . So my question is , to you think it's too soon to start intergarting in the market ( because I am an amateur and I can make some mistakes ) or do you think that I should wait to finish college ? The other thing is that the clothing store ( very suitable at this moment ) may not be available in 3 - 4 years .

Question on marketing (not for groceries)?

I am planning on buying from a bulk wholesale distributor, and sell this inventory retail. I need to advertise my product and get the word out, but I can't do it online. I am simply computer illiterate no matter how hard I try to understand it. Is there an effective, relatively inexpensive way to market my product other than on the internet?

Problems with Bell south Internet...advice please?

A few weeks ago a Bellsouth rep. called and tried to talk me into buying a different plan. She said it was faster and better etc. etc. I said no my service was fine and my internet speed was great...well now I find that my internet speed has slowed and sometimes I have to exit out of internet explorer to get to the page I want...is this a marketing ploy or is it all in my head...what do ya think???

Will Games downloaded from the Internet or pirated copies from the Grey market work on an original Xbox 360?

My friend wants to buy an Xbox 360 but can't shell out money for each new game that comes in the market, so he plans to download games from the Net and write them on a DVD OR buy pirated games for cheaper. Can he do this or should he buy a modded X360? (P.S: Will XBOX Live work on a modded Console?) I do agree that buying Pirated Copies does affect the market, but in countries like India, these games don't come cheap...we need to look for alternatives. As far as Broadband's concerned, there have been some good people around who have made it really cheap. Sorry, I am not saying that what we are doing is right, just that we really don't have any other option. Things are really different for an average guy in India and the "Third World"... I just want to know if I can play games downloaded from the net on an original XBOX 360 without spoiling my warranty or getting kicked off XBOX Live. Is there a way out?

Is A Marketing Degree Worthless?

I was orginally planning to get a degree in Meteorology but I needed alot of Calculus classes and that turned me off. With marketing it looks like I only need one calculus or statistics class and im good. So I have heard good things and bad things about marketing. I am job seeker. I am tring to apply by searching form internet. And plan to do walk-in now. Many of interesting jobs require the experience that I don't have or have a little.
