I would like to find some small businesses to offer my services for free… This is for me to practice some internet marketing skills that I wish to offer in the future… I would be able to make them more seen on a local level and also help develop a strategy for them to get positive reviews placed where people will read them and be more encouraged to visit their business. I have already done this for a few friends and so far it seems to be going good. I would also like the opportunity to ask a few questions about their current marketing strategies. Things Like…How long have you been in business at this location? How many locations do you have? What types of advertising do you do?Do you ask your customers where they found you? What % of customers are found online. What is your monthly marketing budget? What % of marketing is online? Can anyone else help me think of some questions I might need to consider?I would really like to find volunteers in different cities. I think this service would be great for restaurants, and independent agents like Realtors, insurance agents and travel agents. I don’t want to lie to get people to let me try with their company and so far everyone has said no…Any suggestions? You misunderstood. I would ask those questions to learn the industrys and how they currently ARE marketing. i think to really offer them something I need to know what they are doing already wouldnt you agree? What I would do is make them more visible online. Thats it… and I would like to help me determine a fee using that information that they provided while answering those questions as not to charge something over the top and not to sell myself short.I know there are a lot of business that can benefit from this. It is not SEO. Its using the map on the front page of google searches. There can only be 7 companies on that front page map. so its kinda prime real estate. Problem is noone gives me the time of day. They just say not interested. Im not a salesman…

I’ve just been discussing the use of informal business cards. Now, when I say informal, I mean using your first name only and having an overall more approachable rather than corporate design/wording.This will be for a designer whom worked for a design agency. The way the person wants to portray their working style is laid back and with simplicity. What are your thoughts - do you think it’s a necessity or better to have ‘Firstname Lastname MA - CEO’ etc or would a simple ‘Barry - Owner’ or ‘Jenny - Owner’ make you feel more inclined to call and have an informal conversation. Please think outside the box - I know a few people will be thinking ‘what difference does it make’ but others, and those who work in copywriting, the design field or creative fields please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

America’s Debtor,The Theater of the Improbable: A Play in Four Acts…The realm of fantasy with regard to national debt levels first began, quite appropriately, with an actor in the White House. The national debt clock near Times Square was erected as a counterpoint and was at first derided. It was time for Americans to ‘Shop till ya drop”. That’s what the tough do when the going gets tough. At every step along the yellow brick road of debt, the stakes of fantasy had to be raised to ensure that common sense would not prevail. We heard that America was a “Supertanker!” and that we were in a “Goldilocks economy!”By the end of the Clinton Administration, when the improbable gave way to the outright whacky, it looked for a minute like we might have to take that clock down. All thanks to new economy miracles like SockPuppet.com and the ‘New Paradigm!” of infinite growth through the perpetual motion machine known otherwise as the stock market. Then the bubble burst. But soon enough a new new paradigm arrived where money was brokered to banks just for the asking. And they lent to people, just for the asking. This was the summit of the unbelievable. We had indeed reached a new age of money-less money. The old Bum’s Dream from the days of the Great Depression actually came true: there really was a big rock candy mountain! Most Americans have yet to fully awaken from their stupor. And like any powerful dream state, the feeling lingers on despite all evidence to the contrary.
